...might I say that this is, indeed, another stellar album from Mr. Church...I've listened to the entire thing front to back at least ten times...and some of the tunes I could just keep on, keep on, keep on, keep on listening to all day...
...hard to choose a favorite...and can I just add that I can not get enough banjo in my life...I absolutely love how it is worked in to some of the most rocking songs...genius!
...lyrically, I'd say there are some of the best lines in these songs I've ever heard...I keep turning some of those phrases over and over in my mind...def. thought provoking...
...just thought I'd throw this out there to see what everyone else was thinking...
OUTSTANDING!!!

Not sure what my favorite is. Springsteen is up there, just a great, different type of sounding song, throwing the Boss song titles in there and all. I can picture being there on the lawn seats with my daddys lighter singing oh oh oh oh...and I think I remember Eric saying something about 'standing their ground' being on the next record, if Hank Jr, didn't cut it first. But hey, shit happens and as much as I would like a studio version of that song, and Michael, still a damn fine album, that gets better with every listen.

...though my favorite changes from day to day...depending on my mood... :)
Does anyone know what Eric did not include Standing their ground on this record. I saw this live on youtube and he said it would be on the next record.
I think Standing Their Ground is just reserved for special occasions. If it is the YouTube I'm thinking about The Rutledge in 2009 I was @ that show. I don't recall Eric proming it would be on the next album. He might have said it might be or it could be. But he never said it would be.
Spreading the gospel according to Chief. One for me, my wife, best friend and sending one today to my old school buddy back in Ohio. I've never done this with any CD. But then again, this ain't your average CD. Jack Daniels just gets me there! Brilliant. I can't remember the last time I listened to a CD over and over again.

I also love this album. My favs are Hungover and Hard Up & Jack Daniels. My hubby said Springsteen would be a hit. My first listen I was - dare I say - a little disappointed because I was ready for a song to surpass Smoke a Little Smoke, but I didn't find one on Chief that I liked better than that. What can I say, that is one of my fav songs ever. But I still was waking up with EC songs in my head for the first week. I agree that the lyrics in these songs are fantastic, I love Creepin's lyrics. Country Music Jesus just makes me smile, love the instruments and vocals in that one. This CD seems very EC, not too much sappy crap, just fun, rowdy drinkin music. Love it!

It's a tie for me between Hungover & Hardup and Over When It's Over. Though Creepin' really good too.

Anybody know who the woman singing with him is on this song? My friends think it's Miranda Lambert but her voice sounds really different here.
It's Joanna Cotten per the following article but the liner notes say backup vox are Stephanie Chapman, Joanna Cotten, Shelly Fairchild, Jason Hall, Jeff Hyde, Jamie King, Alfreda McCrary Lee, Beverly Ann McCrary, Regina McCrary, Pat McLaughlin, Jonathan Singleton, Ryan Tyndell.
So I'm thinking although they are were background vox, Ms. Cotten must've had the biggest part besides EC.

I can honestly say this is the very first album that I like every single song on, from the first song to the last song - love them all! There's no need to skip a track, any track just to get to the next song you like, like most albums because they are all my favorites! I can listen to this album over and over and over again and never tire of it, just simply makes me want more and I listen to it again! Can't wait to see him later this month doing these songs live!
I love this album and I do listen to it over and over again. As soon as it's done I replay it again. Sometime at work I just listen to this one and sometimes I just shuffle all 3 of Eric's albums. It's a lyrical masterpiece. Springsteen is way up there for me, as well as Over When it's Over and Creepin' but I love all the songs on it.
Pure genius in doing this album. Can't wait to see him this weekend and perform some of these songs live.
