Eric Church is the real deal and its about time a genuine country rock artist gets recognized (and more country rock on the radio ie. Brandtly Gilbert). That been said and by being on this web site you surely have good taste .. what other country artists would you consider to be a "country music jesus"?
Agree, Blackberry Smoke are terrific as are The Cadillac Black, both have opened for Eric Church. Check em out!
The Cadillac Black. Saw them open for EC in Myrtle Beach the summer before last and they are awesome. Their full length CD just came out and it is well worth the $$. I wouldn't really call them country, more like modern southern rock? My husband and I have been trying to figure out where they fit in maybe it's good they don't fit into just one category, kinda like someone else we all know...
The closest thing we have to a Country Music Jesus right now is Jamey Johnson.
Cool, someone else likes TCB...they call themselves "country fuzz"....i agree, definitely worth the $$ to get the cd, love it!
Agree with all the above, but thought I would add mine. Still love the country rock of Little Texas, new and old. Brantly Gilbert, Kip Moore, Zac Brown Band.
For me, Eric is the only one that comes to mind. When I first heard "Country Music Jesus" on his album, I was like, you do realize you are describing yourself, right? :P It fits him perfect, despite what mainstream thinks. You know, if he doesn't win anything at the CMA's this year, it will not surprise me. Where his career is right now, is similar to where Toby Keith was during his album "How Do You Like Me Now?" in the sense that the exec's in Nashville don't like him; he is getting nominated for things, but never winning; he is selling out shows; record sales are through the roof....etc. I hope he takes home something, but I just have this awful feeling he will walk away with nothing.
Me, personally I watch awards shows to see performances. I could give a flying crap about the trophy they get and I would guess EC feels the same. You don't need shiny trophy on your mantle to be cool. I'd give up almost everything to be able to love what I do night after night. The fans is what matters to me not an award.

I remember back in the day when Hank Jr would get nominated for everything, and not win a damn thing. Then he started winning a few , after he started singing what the big country execs liked. Hanks older stuff was the best. EC reminds me of years ago listening to old Hank,Waylon and the other outlaws. Keep your outlaw style going. Don't give in to the big guys. Remember us little guys. We'll keep buying.

Blackberry Smoke! They are a really good band that plays a good range of music; mainly a southern rock sound
