I am disappointed to hear that Eric is not doing solo shows this year. Kenny's shows are so expensive and I would rather see Eric in a smaller venue.
Disappointed as well. I can't shake the feeling that after such successful HEADLINER tour last year (I went to 2 of the shows), EC would tour with Chesney - ultimately making him the "back-up". Seems like a step backward to me? EC needs to headline! I decided to sit this one out. Not for lack of love for EC - but will wait to see what 2014 brings. (Two VIP Shows on one tour will dent your pocketbook) :)
I read the same thing - that 2013 is going to be more of a family and songwriting year for the Chief!

I know most people on here aren't Chesney fans but being second to him on his tour isn't like your typical opening act. Zac Brown Band and Tim McGraw have filled the same slot Eric is this year the last two years. Both played full sets (about 20 songs) so it's not like EC will only be playing a dozen songs and then leaving the stage.
I don't really think Eric's spot on Kenny's tour is a step down. Both Tim McGraw and Keith Urban filled that spot the last couple of years.
Being the opening act right before Kenny.....expose to HUGE amounts of fans....many who may never actually go see that artist if they weren't opening for Kenny. Plus it allows Eric some time at home to work on his new album *AND* spend time with his family. Win Win for him :D
That being said......I wish he was playing some other shows on his own.....less $ smaller venues (ie, last years tour).

The ECB is still scheduling 2013 headline shows for next year but any that make it on the schedule will be few and far between. I don't like to talk finances on here too much, but the asking prices for 2013 have gone up very significantly and some fairs/festivals aren't willing to shell out those kind of bucks right now.

You might have to wait till 2014 to see him again by himself. He said he is taking most of 2013 off to write. he is doing a some canadian dates at the beginning of the year then just the 20 or so dates with kenny and that's pretty much it.
