I think it would be a huge boost for his career as he would be performing in front of tens of thousands in sold out Stadiums. Say what you want about Kenny Chesney, he draws enormous crowds. Eric will still play a full set on the Stadium tours and Chesney always brings his main opener out for 30 mins at the end of the show.
I would hope Eric wouldn't be a sellout and tour with Caribbean Boy!!! I have been a fan since the beginning but if this happens I will not attend.

My stomach dropped when I read this. I clicked on the link but I couldn't get it to play. Chesney does draw big crowds, and yes I will even admit I have gone to one of his concerts, but I don't think this is the type of crowd that EC wants, or at least has been attracting thus far. I feel that true Church fans care more about the music and less about looking cute in a cowboy hat they bought at the mall (gosh I hope I don't offend anyone here...) I would be really disappointed if this happened. It would cheapen the live Eric Church experience.
Not sure how I would feel IF this were to happen. Not a fan of Kenny, but he did support EC, and I will attend any EC show I can. I guess we'll see....
kenny isnt that bad.... i agree with the above statement with sold out staduims who wouldnt want to play that..personally i think springsteen which is a great song..could easily be played by someone like chesney and he does do real good by the acts that play with him and i dont think mr church is going to have new music to tour with next year so if this would happen i would go...and i hate staduim shows
I don't see opening for Kenny being a problem. Maybe it's just for a short period....not the whole tour.
But, the fact that it would be a $75 ticket is the big downer along with being in a stadium
Big positive is he can show all those people how great Eric CHurch is live.
If it's just a 10 city stint where he gets to show 200,000 people how great his show is, then great - go for it. Odds are they will then go see Eric on his next headlining tour. I just know that I won't be there paying $75 to sit there watching a videoboard.

A live Eric Church show is worth every penny. Thank you ECB!
I've seen Kenny twice, only cause he happened to be playing the festival I was at and the other time it was free and I wanted to see Billy Currington. Somehow he does draw big crowds but I honestly can't picture Eric out there helping Kenny sing She Thinks My Tractor is sexy....Eric has paved his own road and I hope he stays on it. I'm not knocking those who like Kenny, clearly the masses love the guy and I realize Eric would get a lot of exposure touring with him. I guess I could always leave once Eric was done...lol.
I like a lot of Kenny's older music and believe it or not, Kenny worked his way up playing this little hole in the wall bars, just like EC did. I know because Kenny played the same hole in a wall bars here in East Tennessee 15-20 years ago that I now play at, lol. So I'm pretty sure Kenny has a lot of respect for Eric for treading the same path. Musically and stylistically, they both are different. While I don't care for a lot of the "beachy" stuff KC has produced the last few years, I still have respect for him as I do with EC. I wouldn't hold it against EC for jumping on board to play the stadiums because it would only bring him that much more fans in the long run I do believe.

I agree! Eric does not belong with Kenny in a stadium concert!
Two different styles totally. Never saw Kenny, don't plan on it! Eric Church is the best!
That would suck. If I can't get good seats to a concert I usually don't go. I like to see the show and not on the projector.

Well, I like Kenny Chesney! He puts on a great show and I like his music. His music is different than Eric's, but a little diversity in a concert is good. Don't worry, down the road Kenny will be opening for Eric!
if i can afford it, i'd love to see that show. two of the hardest working guys out there, and both put tons of energy into their shows. plus kenny usually lets the main guy opening do a pretty long set for the stadium shows i've seen.

but he acknowleged it was in the "rumor stage" he didn't say "no way" or "not something I'm doing".
I think there is something going on. He is saying 13 dates next year.....Kenny MOSTLY tours on weekends in the summer. 13 about figures out right for him to be playing w/Kenny. Maybe he's missing a few dates on that tour. I've seen artists do it.
I dunno - I'll be bummed. It will be the first tour that I have to miss since 2006. BUT it would be great exposure for him (if he's the next to last act).

Oh Patti, say it aint so...exposure good yes...too big of a venue I dont like...you realy think hed go from headliner to opener?
Your summation was right on Patti! I will definitely go to the show. I have seen Kenny Chesney several times and he is good and entertaining. Only problem is that the tickets are expensive, especially in the the "Sandbar" (pit) section, but the tailgate parties are fun!
its quite possible that mr church would still play for 1 and a half hours...then we can go and beat the traffic out of these huge places..unless u like chesney too
Over the last two summers, Kenny has had Zac Brown Band and Tim McGraw open for him and both have played full sets (about 20 songs, which is what Eric typically plays as a headliner now). No offense to Eric but both ZBB and Tim McGraw are considered by most to be higher on the "popularity totem pole" at this point, so if they were okay opening for Kenny then I'm sure Eric would have no problem with it and sees it as a great opportunity.
Plus, if Eric wants to essentially take the year off, doing the stadium circuit on weekends with Kenny is a way for him to still have a presence on the road without the grind of doing three shows in three days.
Eric Church should be able to do what Eric Church wants to do. I've seen him play on a Tuesday night at Joe's Bar in Chicago in front of 70 people for a $5 cover charge and quarter beers. I've seen him do a show in Milwaukee where they had to switch venues three times because the size couldn't accomadate the tickets sales and where they literally ran out of PBR in the Pabst Theater. I've seen him headline arenas now. The guy has busted his ass for years, let him reap any reward he wants to without complaint. It's far from "selling out" if he gets this chance. (I hate that term anyways.) The guy gives it his all every time, let's be supportive of his decisions. Good for him if he gets a well earned spot on Chesney's Stadium Tour! I missed Kenny's tour the last three years, but if EC's on it, I'll be excited to go back. Congratulations to Eric Church on all of his well earned successes!!!
I don't personally care for Kenny Chesney, but lots of people do! I think Eric Church is one million times more talented and "country" than Chesney. That being said, if Eric gets the chance to get that kind of exposure and reap that kind of financial success, than I am proud as can be for him! I don't believe for one minute that Eric Church would ever be a "sell out" or let that kind of fame change him in ANY way. He has spent way too many years being true to himself, his fans, and outlaw country music! He deserves any and ALL success that he gets!
Tara - sure why not? I've seen other artists do it....Keith Urban did it a year or 2 ago. So Eric certainly could. Then he keeps his name out there, the "fire burning" the talk going - but only has to play a handful of dates. He can focus on the next album and his family for a year. So I can see that it is possible.
Again - great for him :D Boo for ME...lol. I simply can NOT afford something like that.
Like I said, the exposure, time to write and be with family...all good....guess I have to save my money for one show then :)
It's a little out dated. The interview was with my ol' buddy Broadway back about a month ago. Nice interview. Eric talks about Kenny tour about 4 minutes into the chat.

I did a search and can't find an article saying that Eric is opening for Kenny, but I did find articles where Kenny supported Eric after his comments about singing contest shows. Kenny said that he like that Eric stayed true to himself and that he grew his fan base the old-fashioned way, by touring.
