The road of the outlaw is paved with sharp stones, but for fans of country music’s bad boys (and bad girls) it’s a satisfying path to follow. The original outlaws — men named Waylon, Willie, Merle and Hank Jr. — are mostly past their prime, but they’ve left a lasting influence on a new generation of country artists who are willing to upset the establishment to gain creative control.
Who is country music’s modern outlaw? Eric Church and Toby Keith seem like two obvious candidates, but what about newcomers like Brantley Gilbert? How in the f is Toby Keith leading this???? Glad to see eric is in second place but people should remember when Toby first came out he was as main stream as could be, where as eric has never toed the line.
