Read any good books lately?

from BAM. I'm gonna try some new authors and got a couple new ones by some favorite authors.

I have a couple of Jodi Picout and James Patterson by the bed but wanting something a little less dramatic for now.

I've been reading a lot, but nothing y'all would be interested in...my classes wrap up next week and I can get back to reading "books" instead of "assignments"...pretty excited about that!

I'm thinking I'll start with an old favorite..."Wuthering Heights"

I always have the hardest time finding good beach books.. anything you can recommend for me? I'll need a couple to read for Maine in August :)

I loved reading and have read tons of books!! I highly recommend the Diana Gabaldon "Outlander" series; the J.B. Robb "* in death" series books; Jilly Cooper are good easy read books (Riders; Polo; Rivals; etc); Jodi Piccoult books (a little heavy though but awesome books); Emily Giffen; John Sanford (the "Prey" series). Check out Carl Hiaasen. Great beach reading. Light hearted, humorous mysteries. His day job is as a writer for the Miami Herald. His stuff is set in Fla in lots of familiar places. He has a bunch of books out there.

Reading Judith Krantz....

I used to read James Patterson books but once he started writing his books with other authors (not sure what's up with that?!) but I find his books very lacking now. I am really disappointed with the books he's written in the last 3 or 4 years and so I stopped reading his completely.

I started reading "The Outlander" again after I posted my suggestions above! LOL Almost finished it.

...I LOVE a good scary book (yes, I've read everything Stephen King has written several times)...so if anyone has any recommedations on some good ones...I would love them...I enjoy short story compilations almost as much as I do novels...so those are appreciated as well!

I've read so many great books lately. I read a variety of genres. Depends on what is going on at the time......

When I have a hectic work load - I'll choose an easy read like a Jodi Piccoult; When I have more free time like when traveling - I'll read the more complex novels like Wally Lamb.

Anything by Wally Lamb is amazing.. my favorite is probably 'the hour I first believed' That book was so good, and its one of those where you keep thinking about it even after you've finished it. I'm reading The Help right now and it's such a fast read because you can't put it down.. now I kinda wanna see the movie :)

If anyone likes history/the civil war, I just finished the North & South triology.. all three books are probably in my all time favorites.

Just finished "The Help"...it was AMAZING! It is def. a must read! I couldn't put it down! I'm just reading a few Clive Barker short stories right now...I need to get out and find something else!

I love to read, lately its been lots of John Grisham, Dean Koontz, Nicholas Sparks, and some autobiographies. Speaking of, I HIGHLY recommend Alabama's lead singer Randy Owen's book. It was really great.

I also just read my first Robin Cook book (not cookbook, lol), Acceptable Risk. It was awesome, I will be reading lots more of Cook.

As for a good scary book - Shawn, I think you asked (awhile ago) - my #1 recommendation would be Intensity by Koontz. OMG, that book is wild...very scary.

Last month, I read "The Help" and LOVED it. I want to see the movie.

Two to three weeks ago, I read "11/23/64" by Stephen King in a week, couldn't put it down, actually. I'd like to see it made into a movie, but it's so long and has so much plot-wise, that I think they'd have to cut at least half the book, if not three quarters of it just to make a movie.

The week before last, I read "Sing You Home" by Jodi Picoult and loved it too. Read it in under a week.

Now I'm reading "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil". For some reason, it's way more slow-going than the past 3 books I've read. Will have to renew it from the local library just to finish it.

A few months ago, I got just over halfway through "Twilight" (the first book, not the whole series), but got bored with it. I don't like what's-her-name's writing style. I love the Harry Potter books, though, and will probably read the series again, once I get my books unpacked when I'm moved into my new place. Everything is in storage right now, while I'm in slight limbo. LOL

Don't read much at all, but after watching the HBO Miniseires The Pacific I decided to pick up a couple books the series was based on. One of the books is called With The Old Breed by Eugene Sledge. Just finished reading it, and it was life changing. Check it out if you like war memoirs or WWII history.
