This is most likely no different than the outspoken "outlaws" of country in the 70s. We just aren't used to this in this overly PC world. I really don't think he meant to slight them personally, was just making a point about new people getting into the business without paying dues. I LOVED his quote about his band outrocking the rock bands!
dont know about this article..makes him sound like a walking drunk ontour...
I agree, no reality shows for me. I'm 63 & no, when I'm 80 I won't be going to any concerts. The fans would have me face down in the cement, footprints up my back & my walker would be bent out of shape.
If Eric doesn't play by Nashville rules he won't get an award. So therefore,I submit a written award for "Best New Country Artist & All Round Best Performer"

Gonna pick up the copy of RS...Ive read pretty much everything out there about Eric. I agree is the best show I have ever seen. If you are a true Eric Church follower it doesn't matter what anyone says about him..he's a great singer/songwriter and I will listen to him until the day I die. He's the greatest thing to hit music in years..his music is always playing in my ride. Oh well he pissed off mainstream country...we don't need them and we don't need award shows to love Eric. Happy Birthday Eric! Keep on....
This article was extremely good! Loved every word of it. If you love Eric's music, you have to love this article. It is all so very true. The funny thing is, the quotes focused on by everyone are literally 2 or 3 sentences and the very end of the article. Its a two page spread and of course the media is gonna focus on two sentences and spin it to make it into a headline. And what Eric said was probably part of a larger conversation that the author of the article left all of the details out of and included just those key sentences.
I agree with every word he said in the article, its a good read. I've personally taken it a bit far in joining the 'choir' here, I never hype it up with the whole celebrity fan boy stuff, it honestly keeps getting worse. I do however support Eric (my name is also Eric and us Erics need to support each other...haha), he is different in his approach, one I can relate to. All the Kardashian and American Idol B.S. is rotting peoples brain like sugar to a child's tooth...the public can't get enough. Its a World gone crazy and everyone follow the formula, you wanna be a star? Here your a star, we'll serve you up on a silver platter and the World will love ya and follow ya. Eric has put in the time, as well as BBS and BG that he is on tour with. It shows through in their music and performance...it was by far the best show I've seen in years if not forever. I've long supported local artists to my town and feel that EC can be lumped in with those guys, the ones that work hard to deserve the success they receive. The Rolling Stone article shows that he ain't afraid to stand up and talk without sugar coating everything. It also mentioned that he had a .40 which is a relief to me...was hoping he wasn't a pansy ass gun hater. haha
