This is hereby the start of an online "petition" of sorts for Eric to add the song "Julia" to his set list once the current tour ends. Better yet...add it to his next album (which I think should be a live one with an accompanying DVD but that's for another thread)
Never heard of Julia? Search Eric Church Julia on youtube. The best recording should come up first. It's 7:14 long uploaded by hawkfan08. Pat McLaughlin did the original. You can google his version too and listen to it.
I know, I know.. It's a cover and at this point in his career why in the world would Eric Church record a cover and/or play one live. Well, here's why. Eric Church absolutely tears up this version. He makes it his own. This IS an Eric Church sounding song. Get Pat some royalty money and make it your own song.
Reply if you feel the same. If nothing else it's your chance to get lost on youtube for hours watching Eric Church live.

A live Eric Church show is worth every penny. Thank you ECB!
I love that song and video! I play it on you tube every once in a while. I was just thinking about that the other day. I would like to hear it on a album as well!
I agree with you. Eric's version of Julie is one of my favorite songs. A live album featuring this song would be incredible but I fear its time has come and gone
I agree a live CD would be awesome!! I stumbled upon the video of him singing The Weight a while back and it instantly became a favorite of mine. Listen to it every chance I get.
Turning this topic into talk of a live CD..... Look at all the tickets sold on this tour. How many of those people would want to re-live that show thru a live Cd AND a DVD. $25, $30, $35..whatever... gets you the CD/DVD package. Pick a date on this second leg of the tour. Hire a company with the experience to film it and you have yourself a money maker.
As for the covers like Julia or The Weight on this live CD...probably not. Just keep the set list as is. But.....put Julia on the next studio album and on the next tour go ahead and play some of those early days favorites, including a few covers done the Eric Church way.
Keep it rollin' Eric Church! We're been behind you from the beginning. Looking forward to your music changing country radio. i.e... less Lady Antebellum and more Eric Church.
I have always heard the rumor that he won't play it at shows because he didn't write Julia. *shrug*. I don't know if that is true or not but that is what I've always heard.
It's not my favorite song, one of my favorite songs is Faster Than My Angels Can Fly and I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to hear that one live!!!

TOTALLY agree about Faster Than My Angels Can Fly. I can't believe that one has never made it to an album.
Who thinks they could go back to old albums and re-release songs now and they'd rocket up the charts?
There's a lot of great songs off those first couple of albums.
Rick,
The label wants to re-release content off of Sinners. I doubt they would re-release anything from Carolina though as it was only 1 album before Chief but I could always be proved wrong!

Any word of EC releasing another EP like he did with Caldwell County? I'd love to see some of the songs like "Julia" or "The Weight" on there. Maybe "Whiskey Wings" as well.
I definitely agree that EC should cut this and put it on the next album or even for immediate download on iTunes. I heard him play it in Nashville in 2009 at the Rutledge. Pat's version is okay, then EC takes it over the top and makes it seem like an original. He just never seems to fail!
@Rick.. Faster Than my Angels Can Fly was released on Carolina as Bonus Tracks for the CD that was sold Exclusive at Best Buy at the time Carolina was released. The 3 Bonus Tracks were 1) My Heart's Got a Memory, 2) Faster... 3) His Kind of Money, My Kind of Love.
Might find one on eBay if you're lucky!

Hmm, not a very popular song evidently. Oh well, I love it. Hope others enjoy those old Eric Church vids. If you want to see Eric in his earlier days (presunglasses) make sure you search Eric Church Pledge Allegiance Tin Roof. Awesome look at a 2007 show. Small bar, lot of beer, rowdy crowd. Great stuff
